World bids farewell to King Pelé, the greatest player of all time

According to Portal Uol, Edson Arantes do Nascimento succumbed to complications from colon cancer and died as a result of multiple organ failure. He leaves six children.

According to the same information, Pelé was admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital, in São Paulo, on November 29 for a reassessment of the chemotherapy treatment.

In the last bulletin released, on December 21, the doctors stated that the colon cancer had progressed and that Pelé’s kidney and heart required care. In the medical bulletin, the Albert Einstein hospital confirmed the death at 3:27 pm today.

Pelé’s wake will take place at Vila Belmiro, the stadium that was his home for 18 years. He will be buried at the Ecumenical Necropolis Memorial, in Santos, where the King of Football had a reserved space since 2003.
