The World Bank (BM) has 3.4 billion dollars available for development projects in Angola, said on Monday, 11th, in Luanda, the representative of this international financial institution for São Tomé and Príncipe and Angola, Juan Carlos Alvarez
Speaking to the press, at the launch ceremony of the Public Procurement Internship program, in projects financed by the BM, the person responsible highlighted that the institution has a portfolio of 12 regional projects, in the education, health, social protection, energy and water sectors. and budget support.
He added that the aforementioned projects began in 2021, 2022, and 2023 and are being implemented satisfactorily.
“The 12 projects have an implementation life of five years and disbursement happens little by little”, he highlighted.
He defended the need to strengthen the institutional capacities of the teams’ project implementation units, between ministries, and the sharing of knowledge, for better execution of projects.
He highlighted, on the other hand, the internship program, which, according to the person responsible, will support the improvement and implementation of BM projects, which aim to benefit Angolans.
The program aims to increase the number of Angolan staff trained in public procurement, ensure greater speed and implementation of projects financed by the WB, reduce expenses in hiring specialists in public procurement, as well as improve the quality of contracting processes.
The two-year paid internship scholarships will have a theoretical and practical component. The non-renewable two-year internships were developed in collaboration with the National Public Procurement Service and the National School of Administration and Public Policies (ENAPP).
