Eugene – Sprinter Jessica-Bianca Wessoly clearly missed making it into the 200-meter final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene.
The 25-year-old from Mannheim finished in 23.33 seconds and thus had the third-worst time of all semi-finalists. The fastest was top favorite Shericka Jackson from Jamaica, who needed 21.67 seconds and was not yet at his full potential.
For world 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who had the second best time of the semifinals, the 21.82 seconds was a season best. Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah ran no faster this year with 21.97 seconds and was fifth of all semifinalists. Like Jackson, Fraser-Pryce and Thompson-Herah are from Jamaica.
