The problem affects 27 communities that are supplied by this adduction.

Juan Carlos Rivero, director of Water Resources of the mayor’s office, reported that the meeting this Thursday specifically addressed the issue of the Tacoa well, which is presenting a low level, which is why it is drawing a smaller amount of water.

Additionally, he said that the illegal intakes are supplying swimming pools, water fills and one-inch intakes that go to irrigation, for which reason a plan was established to reduce intakes and eliminate irrigation and commercial intakes.

Actions

Rivero announced that on Monday they will extract and review the valve of the aqueduct in Tacoa and carry out an inspection to determine the materials required to eliminate the intakes, from Rebullén to Carúpano Arriba. After Easter they will proceed with the withdrawal.

Likewise, following the major week, the well will be reviewed to determine if it is drilled or if there is damage to the equipment.

The general director of the mayor’s office, Luis Pláceres, reported that given the situation with the Santa Rosa aqueduct, the promulgation of a decree that prohibits illegal intakes, generally throughout the municipality, is being discussed, given the potential situation of coming drought.
