In Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand, the “piggy-selling” cases of migrant workers’ fraud are the first to appear in the American “piggy-pig”. Cambodia said it found three foreigners, two of whom were American citizens, in a room in Sihanoukville on Thursday. They reported working for a Chinese computer company. Unlike the Taiwanese and Hong Kongers who were deceived to the local area, the three were paid full wages and bonuses, but were placed under house arrest and beaten when they offered to resign.
“Cambodia China Times” reported that following the three failed to resign, they sought help from the hotline working group of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Su Qing. They are Sath Chas, a Cambodian-American man, Deniel Wayne Scott, a 43-year-old American man, and his Indonesian wife, Plasidia Retta Riama, 31. When the police went to their workplace, the three were in the room, which was unlocked and unguarded. The company allows them to move around the campus, including convenience stores that can enter and exit the campus, but not outside. Chas said that he traveled to Cambodia in August last year and went to Sihanoukville in November to work on computers. He had worked for four different companies with a basic salary of US$800-900 (HK$6,240-7,020) per month. The last company he worked for was Jin Bei. 4. Earlier this year, the Scotts met an Indonesian man and a Filipino woman through Messenger, and were introduced to work in Westport. They were then introduced to Jin Bei 4 by a Taiwanese man Xiao Li and a mainland man Jackie Trio. Monthly bonuses of US$14 million to US$59,000 (regarding HK$10,900 to HK$460,000). After Scott offered to resign, he was beaten and abused by Jackie Trio.
