“Workers’ fuel allowance” from 100 to 300 €: can you benefit from this boost?

As part of the “Purchasing Power” law, the government will propose the introduction of a “worker fuel allowance” for French people who have to take their car to go to work. Who is concerned ? What amount? How to request it? We take stock.

This was one of the government’s priority avenues to relieve the finances of French households in the face of rising fuel prices. In addition to the discount of 18 euro cents at the pump, extended for the whole summer, the government wants to set up a “worker fuel allowance”. The details of this new aid – which is part of the “Purchasing Power” bill – were unveiled this Thursday, July 7 at the end of the Council of Ministers.

Who is concerned ?

The measure should apply to “eleven million people”, the government said yesterday. It concerns the employees, apprentices, public or self-employed officials who have to use their car to get to work. As mentioned last week by the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire, eligibility and the amounts will depend on income.

How much will you get?

  • A bonus of 200 € is intended for single people who earn approximately €840 net per month, €1,680 for a couple and €2,521 for a household with two children.
  • A bonus of 100 € is intended for single people who earn approximately €1,260 net per month, €2,521 for a couple and €3,781 for a household with two children.
  • An additional premium for high rollers. French people who live more than 30 km from their place of work or who travel more than 12,000 kilometers per year as part of their job will be able to claim additional aid ranging from €50 to €100, once more depending on income.

How to request it?

The payment of the “workers’ fuel allowance” will not be automatic. To receive it, it will be necessary to make an online procedure on the website of the Direction des finances publiques taxes.gouv.fr. The financial aid should be paid from October 1st.
