During the Lunar New Year holiday of Giap Thin in 2024, reporters were present at the area of ​​construction package No. 5 (construction of HC1-01 underground tunnel) of the An Phu intersection project, Thu Duc City. Under the scorching sun in the first days of the year, many workers are still busy working on the construction site.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dien (35 years old, from Can Tho) who is working here said that due to the nature of his work, during this Tet holiday he and many of his brothers did not return to their hometown but stayed at the construction site to continue construction. When workers from the countryside return to work after the Tet holiday, those who stay during Tet will be given compensation leave to return home to visit their families.

According to Mr. Dien, staying at the construction site during this time is sad, but on the contrary the salary is high, giving him more income so his wife and children can stay home to make ends meet. In addition, on New Year’s Eve, the workers also organize a meal so they feel less sad.

Mr. Lam Quoc Su (37 years old, from Bac Lieu), manager of a subcontractor working here, said that during the Tet holiday, about 30 workers asked to stay to work through Tet, but due to the nature of the work, job, the unit only retains about 15 people to work.

“Those who stay are paid high salaries, plus other benefits, so everyone can work with peace of mind. Besides, the workers here are mainly from the Western provinces, so moving is easy, so many People still return home regularly, they don’t have to wait until Tet to return,” Mr. Su said.

According to Mr. Su, recently, the weather has been hot and sunny, workers on the construction site have been working much harder than before.

As one of the joint venture contractors constructing construction package No. 5, Mr. Tran Tien Viet, Deputy Director of Hoang Huy Toan Co., Ltd. said that the unit is currently constructing the tunnel body and tunnel walls of 4/7. open pit burning. The value of the work volume handled by the company has reached approximately 74% progress. It is expected that the company’s work will be completed in mid-2024.

After the Lunar New Year holiday, 4 bidding packages will be implemented to build overpasses at the intersection of Mai Chi Tho with Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway and the intersection of Mai Chi Tho with Dong Van Cong street.

It is known that the An Phu intersection project (Thu Duc City) will start construction at the end of 2022 with a total capital of more than 3,400 billion VND. The project has a 3-storey design, including a 2-way underground tunnel connecting Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway with Mai Chi Tho street (Thu Thiem tunnel side), extending through the Mai Chi Tho – Dong Van Cong intersection.

The project is expected to be completed on April 30, 2025, helping to solve traffic congestion, enhancing the connection of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway with the areas of Hanoi and Mai Chi Tho highways. , Dong Van Cong, Luong Dinh Cua, Nguyen Thi Dinh.
