Work-study aid lowers productivity (Dares)

The massive influx of work-study students into companies, encouraged by public policies, would explain 20% of the unprecedented drop in business productivity since 2019, according to a study by Dares (Ministry of Labour) published recently.

The hiring of apprentices in companies is so massive that it has a statistical impact on their productivity, notes the Dares in a note published on January 26. According to statisticians from the Ministry of Labor, the development of work-study would contribute one-fifth to the drop in business productivity recorded since the health crisis.
