Asuncion, IP Agency.- Teams from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) continue with road improvement works in several towns in the department of Ñeembucú, in coordination with local and departmental governments.
The interventions, which are part of the agreement between the MOPC and the Government of Ñeembucú, were carried out in the following local sections: Montuoso Costa to Guazucua (profiling and shaping of platform), Laureles to Espinillo (platform patching), local roads of Villalbin (platform patching and placement of cellular tubes).
As well as Villalbin to Isla Real (platform profiling), and Desmochados to Villalbin (platform profiling with two motor graders).
These actions are of vital importance considering that more than 85% of the Paraguayan road network is made up of dirt roads, reported the MOPC.
The XII Department of Ñeembucú, located in the extreme south of the country, presents a unique challenge for road infrastructure due to its geographical characteristics. Extensive wetlands, estuaries, the Paraná and Paraguay rivers, as well as numerous smaller watercourses, cover 60% of the department’s surface.
The Ministry of Public Works announced that it will continue in the coming days in other critical areas, in order to improve connectivity and development in all regions of the country, with special attention to rural areas.
