K-Pop idol group Seventeen’s Woozi has denied allegations of using AI (artificial intelligence) in his group’s music production process.
The allegation was first reported by a foreign news outlet on July 11. The media outlet said that there is a possibility that Seventeen and many other famous artists use AI in their music production process.
The media also quoted Woozi’s statement in a press conference last April, which said he was experimenting with AI and practicing changing songs using AI. He also said he wanted to grow side by side with technology.
Woozi said he has tried AI-based composition and lyrics, and thought regarding the pros and cons. He also thought regarding how to maintain the uniqueness of the group’s identity in the process.
The news was then widely discussed. The Super singer then gave a brief clarification via his personal Instagram account. He uploaded an Instagram story containing a denial of the news.
“All of Seventeen’s music is written and composed by humans,” Woozi emphasized.
PLEDIS Entertainment, as the agency that houses Seventeen, also spoke up. They firmly asked the mass media concerned to correct the information in the articles they made.
“It is not true that AI was used for Seventeen’s song lyrics,” said a representative of PLEDIS Entertainment. (Z-1)
