Women’s World Cup; Australia won for the third time in a row

The Australian women beat New Zealand by 141 runs in the third match in a row at the World Cup. With this, Australia came first in the points table. Chasing the target of 270, New Zealand were bowled out for 128 in just 30.2 overs.

Batting first, Australia’s Else Perry (68) and Tahulia McGrath (57) were the top scorers. Ashley Gardner’s 48 not out off 18 balls in the final overs saved Australia. Beth Mooney (30) and Rachel Haynes (30) also scored runs for Australia. Leah Tahuhu took three wickets for the Kiwis.

In reply, New Zealand scored 22 for the first wicket but the latter did not stand much on the ground. Amy Satharthwhite was the only Kiwi batsman to score 44 runs. Leah Tahuhu, who took three wickets for Australia, added 23 runs for the Kiwis’ innings.
