A center for psychological and sports care for women suffering from cancer pathologies has opened at the hospital establishment specializing in the fight once morest cancer in Béchar, at the initiative of the local association “El Hayat” , screening for breast and cervical cancer, we learned on Saturday from association officials. The first of its kind in the South-West region of the country, this structure has several easements and specialized rooms dedicated to the care of patients including those for treatment and their psychological follow-up, cultural and scientific activities as well as reading of the Holy Quran, said the president of the association Fouzia Zigalem. This center also has rooms intended for feminine aesthetics and sports and physical activities, necessary for this category of patients, she said, noting that the opening of this space, coinciding with the month of October pink, was marked by an awareness campaign on early cancer detection, organized in coordination with the local health department. The creation of this center, which is part of the strengthening of support for patients, required funding of 4 million DA including a financial contribution of more than three (3) million DA, released by the Social Development Agency (ADS), while the rest of this financing comes from the association’s own funds, according to Ms. Zigalem. ”Our partner, in this case the management of the hospital establishment specializing in the fight once morest cancer and its medical and paramedical staff, as well as psychologists working in the health sector of the wilaya, have been a great contribution to the creation of this center,” she underlined.
