Women’s OL: goalkeeper Christiane Endler, former PSG, seriously injured in the knee

It’s a real blow for Olympique Lyonnais, still in the race to regain their title of French women’s champion and the Champions League. While Les Bleues played Saturday night in Caen once morest Brazil (2-1), Lyon goalkeeper Christiane Endler kept the goals for the Chilean team once morest Ecuador (3-1). The Chilean federation has announced that the former Parisienne suffered from a serious injury to the meniscus of the right knee.

The Rhone club will have to do without its goalkeeper recruited last summer from PSG for several months. “The player Christiane Endler suffered a tear in the meniscus of her right knee”, explains the Chilean Federation in a press release specifying that the former PSG player “will have to undergo surgery”. The Chilean federation also specifies that at the request of its club, “the operation will take place in Lyon, France”.

Already injured in January, the duration of her absence is not known but it will have probable consequences on the end of the women’s D1 season. Remember that at the top of the championship, PSG and Lyon are in the fight. While waiting for her return, the absence of the Chilean should allow Sarah Bouhaddi to find a starting place in the goal of Olympique Lyonnais.
