Women’s CAN 2022: Morocco, host country, loses the final against South Africa (2-1)

Big disappointment for millions of Moroccans. While hopes and eyes were riveted on them, the Atals Lionesses lost in the final of the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations (CAN) on Saturday evening at the Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, once morest South Africa, with a score of 2 goals to 1.
The South African selection won thanks to a double signed Hildah Magaia (63rd, 71st), while Rosella Ayane reduced the gap for the national team in the 80th minute.

Even if Morocco failed in the final step, this CAN will have been a great success both on the sporting level and in terms of organization. The national team has confirmed its rise to power in recent years, achieving its best performance in the history of its participation in the CAN, while this edition broke the historic record for the number of spectators present at the stadium during a match of women’s football in Africa. Not to mention the unprecedented enthusiasm aroused for women’s football among the local public, thanks to the beautiful course achieved by the Lionesses of the Atlas.
