Rams Face High Point in Friday Night Battle
The Winston-Salem State University women’s basketball team hits the road this Friday, venturing to High Point University for a nonconference matchup. The first-ever meeting between these squads is set to tip off at 5:00 p.m. inside Qubein Center.

A New Season Takes Shape for Rams
The Rams are eager to build momentum going into their conference schedule. The program welcomes back a solid core of six returners from last year’s roster.
Leading the charge are sophomores La’Niya Simes, juniors Alexandria Warren, Jakaiya Mack, Chloe Williams, and senior Christiana McLean, ready to guide the team. Joining these veterans is graduate student Sierra Hunter, adding valuable experience to the mix.
The Rams also welcomed a wave of fresh talent during the offseason. Freshman Alana Biosse is joined by sophomores Khauri Little, Karina Scott, and Zion Duncan. Rounding out the arrivals are junior Kierran Walker, graduate student Jaleesa Lanier, and graduate student Maya- Madison Walker, all bringing newly honed skills and energy to the court.
Looking Ahead: All Eyes on Conference Play
Last season, Mack secured a spot on the 2024-2025 All-CIAA Women’s Basketball Preseason Team Frontcourt. Mack notched 15 games played and 12 starts last season while demonstrating her versatility on both ends of the court. She averaged 23 minutes per game, putting up 8 points per game, shooting 45% from the field and logging a 57% free throw percentage.
The Rams have been picked to finish tenth in the CIAA standings for 2023-24.
Most recently, the Rams secured a hard-fought victory over Carolina University. They triumphed 57-53 last Saturday, November 30th. La’Niya Simes led the Rams with nine points, while Sierra Hunter chipped in with six points and seven rebounds.
