Saudi Railways said that this move is part of women’s empowerment in the transport and logistics sectors. Saudi Railways also released a video of women training inside the train’s cab. Haramain Express will travel at a speed of more than 300 km per hour. It can accommodate more than 400 business and economy class passengers. The ticket price is between 40 riyals and 150 riyals. Between the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, the journey time required for pilgrims is two hours and 20 minutes.

The Haramain service is one of the largest public transport projects in the Middle East. A 450 km long electric train connecting Makkah and Madinah serves Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City.
