Women break with tradition and graduate as bricklayers in Chaco

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Masonry is no longer just a man’s profession, as evidenced by the women from Chaco who successfully completed the course with an intense 200-hour training in the district of Mariscal Estigarribia, in the department of Boquerón.

This group of 25 students, 12 of whom are women heads of household, was trained by the National System of Vocational Training and Capacity Building (Sinafocal) in key skills for construction.

The course, which combined theory and practice, aimed to train participants in carrying out auxiliary work on construction sites, with a focus on efficiency, safety and environmental protection.

During the training, they demonstrated outstanding commitment and skill, challenging and reaffirming their ability to perform in a field historically reserved for men.

These women, who faced double shifts as heads of household and in their professional training, did not hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity to advance in their lives, demonstrating that masonry is not just a man’s job. The classes began on Monday, July 1 and were held intensively, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Upon completion of the course, graduates are qualified to perform a variety of roles, such as reinforced concrete operators, plasterers, bricklayers’ assistants and other construction-related trades, always under quality and safety standards.
