According to journalist Carlos Jiménez, the events occurred last Monday at the Gym Fitness Sport gym, when the affected woman, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants with white stripes, was accompanied by a young woman.

In the video shared through social networks, you can see how the woman approaches the Smith machine, sits on a bench that was placed under the machine and due to the weight she tried to carry on her shoulders, she instantly collapsed.

Quickly, a man in a black shirt who was watching approached to help and two other people came running, between the three of them they took the woman away, but she fell lifeless.

In the following moments of the recording, those present try to carry out a quick review of the victim without obtaining any favorable response.

Before the disclosure of these images, Internet users were quick to react and some began to question whether the person who was close to the woman at the time of the accident was her coach.

“The young woman might not hold the 180 kilos that the bar had and the trainers might do nothing for her, not even warn her not to do it?” Was one of the comments by Internet users.

Given these assumptions, Carlos Jiménez wrote from his Twitter:

“HE IS NOT AN INSTRUCTOR The man in black who seeks to help the injured woman in the gym is not an instructor of the place. He is a former @PDI_FGJCDMX agent who has been training for years in @AlcCuauhtemocMx gyms. The gym manager was somewhere else.”

It should be noted that until now, the capital authorities have not ruled on the matter, but unofficial sources mentioned that following the events occurred, experts from the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office went to the gym to initiate the pertinent investigations.

During 2021, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), 39.6% of the population aged 18 and over in Mexico said they were physically active.

In addition, the population that performed sports or physical exercise in private facilities or places increased from 11.2 to 21.8%, a percentage close to the one in 2019, following its decrease in 2020. In this sense, the figures reflected that men were more physically active with 46.7%, while women represented 33%.

“The group from 18 to 24 years of age presented the highest proportion of the physically active population in their free time with 64.7 percent. The group of 45 to 54 years registered the lowest proportion with 31.6 percent. In the group of women from 35 to 44 years of age, the highest proportion of the physically active population was registered with 35.2%. This situation is different from what had been observed in the 2019 and 2020 surveys, where the most physically active women were those in the 18 to 24-year-old group,” revealed the Inegi.
