A 27-year-old woman was detained by authorities from the Los Cortijos parish, in Zulia state, following having burned the hands of her six-year-old daughter.

The capture took place at kilometer 23, on the road to Perijá, where a police commission moved following processing a complaint for child abuse.

According to the report, the defendant tied the little girl’s hands and then placed them on top of a kitchen stove.

The incident occurred following the girl had eaten another child’s food.

Officials of the San Francisco Municipal Police, who made the apprehension, had received the report through the Peace Quadrants.

The person responsible for the attack was placed under investigation, following an interview in which the little girl reported that this type of punishment was common.

The security forces opened a request as a measure of care and protection for the girl.

The Public Ministry will investigate the accusations and lead the judicial process.
