María Olivia Gaviño Vargas suffered a fall last Monday, January 1. She was going to take down the clothes that she had hanging on the roof of her house in the Santa Cruz Acalpixca neighborhood, Xochimilco mayor’s office, when her foot got stuck on the stairs and she fell.

As a result, he suffered an injury to the tibia and fibula of his right foot. It was approximately 4:00 p.m., her son Fernando Ramírez Gaviño immediately assisted her and upon seeing the severity of her injury he decided to take her to the hospital.

There he began his pilgrimage in search of medical attention.

At midnight this Tuesday, following 30 hours of visiting hospitals, the woman is still waiting for care, enduring the pain. She is low-income and she is not entitled to the IMSS or the ISSSTE, which is why she has not gone to those institutions.

In an interview with El Financiero, Fernando said that he initially went to the Luis Guillermo Ibarra National Rehabilitation Institute, in the Health sector, also known as Xomali Hospital, located in the Tlalpan mayor’s office.

He explained that following a long wait and begging the administrators and doctors there, they told him that they might not receive his mother.

He later took her to the Manuel Gea González general hospital, also in the Health sector, where she had to wait several hours, but in the end they did not want to treat her family member either and did not give her a reference to which hospital to take her to.

Already during the course of Tuesday, Fernando said, he took the woman to the Balbuena General Hospital, of the Government of Mexico City, where they kept her in the emergency area and following realizing that they did not have sufficient equipment and supplies, they gave her hope.

“A doctor from Balbuena told me that since they didn’t have And in fact I made the badge for my mother for which I paid 1,900 pesos, which I had to get, and when we returned the doctor was no longer there and the rest of the staff ignored it and told me that they can no longer receive it.

“In all the hospitals they tell me ‘I don’t have room here.’ ‘I don’t have “The anger I have is that they don’t take care of me

She said that the doctor who treated her in Balbuena, whom she identified as Miguel Ángel Neri Morales, head of the emergency area, has insisted that they cannot receive her mother. “They say they are not going to receive her, let her do what she does.”

Now Fernando cries out for the intervention of some authority so that his mother can be cared for.
