Woman stabbed Friday night succumbs to her injuries

The young woman in her twenties, stabbed Friday in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, succumbed to her injuries a few hours later.

The tragedy took place around 7 p.m. on Aylwin Street.

“Arrived on the scene, the police located a woman in her twenties who was assaulted at least once in the upper body with a stab,” said officer Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the City Police Department. of Montreal (SPVM).

She was taken to a hospital, where she died a few hours later. It would be the fifth murder of the year on Montreal territory.

According to Newspaper information, the suspect, Jerry Avril, is a 32-year-old man known to the police and who has around thirty files to his credit. He was quickly arrested near the scene of the event.
