A woman in her 30s who might not find drugs purchased through the so-called ‘throwing method’ at the promised location was sentenced to probation for an attempted crime.

The 11th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Ko Sang-young) announced on the 7th that Mr. A (32, female), who was indicted on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (marijuana), was sentenced to two years in prison and three years of probation.

The court ordered Mr. A to receive probation and take 40 hours of drug treatment classes.

Mr. A was indicted on charges of attempting to traffic drugs in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do around March of this year and December of last year.

He approached a drug dealer through a chat application, received an advance deposit, and then attempted to purchase drugs using the so-called throwing method by telling them where the drugs were hidden.

After receiving 1 million won worth of money, the drug dealer provided a specific location, but Mr. A was unable to find the drugs at that location, so the attempt ended in an attempt.

Mr. A was also indicted on charges of inhaling drugs and other illegal hallucinogenic substances around March of this year.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. A committed similar crimes in the past and committed this despite being on probation.

The court said, “Drug crimes are not easy to detect and have a high risk of recidivism. It is a serious crime that causes great harm not only to individuals but also to society as a whole due to hallucinogenic and addictive properties,” and added, “The defendant attempted to purchase marijuana for the purpose of personal smoking.” “The sentence is determined by taking into account the visible facts and the fact that the bribery crime was only an attempt,” the ruling ruled.
