A French-Canadian woman has pleaded guilty to sending a letter laced with deadly poison to kill former US President Donald Trump. The US Department of Justice said that 55-year-old Pascale Ferrier admitted to making the poison at her home in Quebec. Pathi is expected to receive up to 22 years in prison.
In September 2020, Pascal Ferrier sent a letter to the White House that was sprinkled with raisin dust, asking him to withdraw from the presidential race. The aim was to kill Trump and some other US officials using biological weapons. 6 letters were sent with poison powder called rice. One to the White House and 5 to Texas Department of Justice offices.
But the letter was destroyed before it reached Trump. The FBI found Pascal Ferrier’s fingerprints on the letter. Ferrier, a dual citizen of France and Canada, was arrested in September 2020 while crossing the border to Buffalo, New York. He was in possession of a gun, knife and bullets when he was arrested.
Ferrier is a computer programmer. Ferrier was arrested in 2019 for illegal possession of a weapon and using a fake driver’s license. Sentencing will be announced on April 26. He is expected to be sentenced to 262 months in prison. In 2014, a Mississippi man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for sending ricin-laced letters to President Barack Obama and other officials.
