An American woman won a small jackpot playing the lottery. But the latter made a mistake and was unable to recover her winnings.

A lottery winner’s daydream quickly turned into a nightmare following she bragged regarding her win a little too hastily.

Drena Harris won $500 in the Indiana State Hoosier Lottery and was so thrilled she was quick to share the good news on social media, local media reports Indy100.

Drena Harris posted her small fortune on Facebook, even uploading a photo of the winning ticket to prove it.

His jackpot stolen by an Internet user

But before she had time to claim her prize, a malicious Internet user decided to beat her to it.

The anonymous fraudster used the photo of his ticket to scam a store employee and get the money.

If Ms Harris had made more money, it is unlikely the scam would have worked.

Indeed, retailers who participate in the Hoosier Lottery can instantly pay out cash prizes but not above $600.

By the time Ms. Harris realized what had happened, it was too late and the lottery commission refused to pay out another $500.

Drena Harris will now think twice before posting a winning ticket on her social networks.
