A man is said to have killed his wife in Eschenau (Lilienfeld district) on Monday morning. The suspect may then have attempted suicide. “The accused was taken to a hospital with serious injuries,” said police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner in response to an APA request. The Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office has started an investigation. According to Schwaigerlehner, the suspect was in police custody, as the “NÖN” also reported online.
The police were alerted shortly following 8:30 a.m. The woman was probably killed with a gun in the elderly couple’s home, the spokesman said.
