The details were revealed in a response that the company delivered to the 2nd Labor Court of Santiago, in the context of a labor lawsuit.

WOM indicated to the court -quoted Diario Financiero- that it saw the need to “restructure various areas (…) due to the complex commercial and economic scenario” caused by the pandemic and “aggravated by the economic recession facing” Chile.

In addition to the 300 layoffs, the company said it had to apply several readjustments, such as merge charges and outsource services.

Until July 2022, WOM had 3,305 workers. Five months later, in December, its payroll was 3,022; and to date it has 2,900 collaborators.

From the WOM workers’ group they indicated to the aforementioned media that the company informed them that it would make layoffs due to the need to adjust its costs.

WOM, for its part, explained in this regard that is evaluating “alternatives to grow” the business in the context “of an industry that is converging (…)”.
