Profits while taxpayers guarantee – Wien Energie has acted at the expense of its own customers
Vienna (OTS) – “The SPÖ financial scandal surrounding Wien Energie is constantly taking on new dimensions,” said club chairman Markus Wölbitsch in view of today’s reporting in the news magazine “Profil”.
The reports for 2021 and the first three quarters of 2022 show that there were clear warning signals and that the high liquidity requirements had been known for much longer. The liquidity forecast of MA 5 at the end of September 2022 assumed EUR 10.9 billion. “Although there were these clear warning signals, the SPÖ stuck to these speculative deals with an open risk,” said Wölbitsch. The focus has always been on fixing future profits, but not on hedging once morest rising prices in the interests of customers. “The SPÖ has thus used tax billions for speculative profits,” Wölbitsch continued.
Mayor was always involved and informed
The chronology of events also clearly shows that the mayor was always involved and informed. The most recent survey by City Councilor Hanke proved that. “We will confront the mayor in the commission of inquiry with these findings and demand the more than overdue clarification. This cause must no longer be hushed up,” concluded Wölbitsch.
