ÖVP club chairman on the death of the “brave fighter”
Vienna (OTS / ÖVP-PK) – “With Marilies Flemming we are losing a courageous fighter and a strong woman and politician,” said ÖVP club chairman August Wöginger today, Thursday, concerned regarding the death of former Federal Minister Dr. Marilies Flemming. “As Federal Minister for the Environment, Youth and Family, she was committed to family and environmental issues and pushed numerous initiatives and laws in this area. Unflinching, assertive and demanding, she was also a loud voice for women’s rights and equal opportunities and for a united Europe.”
For her commitment, she was also awarded the Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold for services to the Republic of Austria and the Decoration of Honor in Gold for services to the State of Vienna.
“Equipped with a high sense of values, a lot of humor and empathy, she was always a human and exemplary companion in the People’s Party in the years that we have known her and in which we have also been able to work with her. We will always remember them in the future. Our condolences go to the family,” Wöginger concluded.
