WNBA: Diana Taurasi scores 30 points at 40, joining Michael Jordan and Dirk Nowitzki in legend

In the Phoenix Mercury’s victory over the Los Angeles Sparks (90-80), Diana Taurasi scored 30 points. She is the first WNBA player to achieve this feat. Only Michael Jordan (Washington Wizards) and Dirk Nowtizki (Dallas Mavericks) had done so much in the NBA.

Diana Taurasi was born on June 11, 1982 in California and has been playing for Mercury since 2004, not counting her seasons in Russia and Turkey.

Against the Sparks, she converted 7 of her 18 shots from the field, including 5/13 three-pointers and 11 of her 12 free throws. She added 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.

A few days ago, when her partner Sue Bird announced that this WNBA season would be the last, she said:

“Thinking back, it’s amazing to work with your best friend for 20 years. You can’t do that, most people don’t do that in any job, let alone basketball. So, it’s been an amazing journey. At the end of the season, I’ll be a free agent and see what’s best for me. »
