Witnesses to the kidnapping of a murdered German couple have given their testimony

Asunción, IP.- The fiscal agent of the Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Sandra Quiñónez, took statements on Friday morning from four people who had been released by members of the self-proclaimed Paraguayan People’s Army, after taking the couple formed by Robert Natto and his wife Érika Reiser.

The hearing was held at the headquarters of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Concepción. First, Gervacio Candia testified. Then, the ranch manager Jorge Candia, Roger Manuel Ruiz Candia and Nelson Jara, a Senacsa official, will be called.

The incident occurred last Wednesday in the Yby Yau district. The four witnesses were in the company of the couple, later murdered, when they were preparing to vaccinate cattle in one of the corrals of the “Luisa Ganadera” farm.

“These people are appearing for a hearing in relation to the incident that occurred last Wednesday. The information obtained will be of utmost importance for the investigation of the case. Regarding the evidence collected during the proceedings, we have important data apart from the information obtained through other seized items,” said prosecutor Quiñonez.

He added that they are certain of the way in which they (EPP members) govern themselves, the system of how they are organized, the system of discipline, etc. “All of this is of the utmost importance. These manuals were in the backpack they left behind when they fled after executing the couple. Three of the four people involved in the kidnapping and death of the Nattos have been identified. They are Antonio Bernal Maíz, Esteban Marin López and Rubén López, who acted with their faces uncovered.”
