Easter Sunday is the most important holiday for all Catholic Christians, Christ was resurrected and thus opened the doors of heaven to us, “if Christ had not been resurrected, our faith would be in vain.” With his death he frees us from sin and with his resurrection he gives us the possibility of a new life, as long as we are willing to receive it, welcome it and live it. In this way we too can be resurrected to a new life.
With the resurrection of Jesus, the issue of the salvation of men, the first object of faith and the basis of our hope, is resolved. Jesus was resurrected “as the firstfruits of those who sleep.” He is in person the resurrection and the life, this grounds our certainty to participate now in the new life that Christ offers us.
The resurrected Christ is the beginning and source of our future resurrection; He is in our faith and in our hope that is lived in today and now in love, “love for God and others.” By resurrecting, the body of Christ possesses, at the same time, the new properties of a glorious body; His humanity can no longer be retained on earth, he is extremely free to appear everywhere, he is a participation in the divine life in the state of his glory.
In fact, no one was an eyewitness to the extraordinary event of the resurrection, however, it is a historical event demonstrable by the facts and memories of the apostles, it is a mystery of the faith of those who believe, like so many men and women who bear witness. that the resurrection is a fact.
The risen Christ lives in the hearts of those who believe, it is said, in a colloquial setting, that actions are worth a thousand words. Some of us are witnesses of it, I hope you are too. There are phrases like the following: “the Lord is risen, he has made himself seen, he has appeared to someone.” However, as literate men of science, these words do not say much. No one will recognize the resurrected resurrection, even if we have him in front of us if he does not manifest himself. An initiative from Jesus is necessary to call you by name or explain the scriptures to you and break bread for you.
Recognizing the risen Jesus requires faith, as a response to his initiative, the recognition that is given to him, that is, it is necessary to realize that he has been calling me and many times he has presented himself prostrate before me, but that I have not been able to see him, much less recognize him. Now, heeding his call and recognizing him implicitly carries with it a mission. One might think that the resurrection is something personal and yes it is, but it implies being a witness to the resurrection of Christ, since “it affects all of life.” Achieving a lifestyle that encompasses all areas of my existence is the result of being a witness to the resurrected One, because He has raised me from where He might find me, because He Himself tells me “you who sleep, get up! Wake up, I want to enlighten you.” , get out of there! Shake off the dungeon because I didn’t call you so that you were imprisoned, engrossed in your thoughts, get out of here, let’s go! I have a new life prepared for you.” Happy Easter!
