Witness the Launch of a Self-Driving Vehicle Experiment in Riyadh: Al Marsad Newspaper Reports

A video documented the launch of a self-driving electric vehicle experiment in Riyadh. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for Planning and Sector Development, Dr. Mansour Al-Turki, stated that the vehicle is equipped with radar and laser technologies and can accommodate a specific traffic network. Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics, inaugurated the experiment at the Riyadh Business Interface as part of the Ministry’s effort to adopt modern transportation systems. This initiative aims to reduce the number of transport accidents and deaths, improve movement between and within cities, and minimize the negative impact of the transportation sector on the environment.

Al-Marsad Newspaper: A video clip documented the launch of a self-driving electric vehicle experiment in Riyadh, with the aim of carrying passengers and goods from one location to another safely, without human intervention.

Dr. Mansour Al-Turki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for Planning and Sector Development, said: “The vehicle is equipped with radar and laser technologies, and it can accommodate a specific traffic network adopted by this vehicle from point to point or through several points.”

It is worth noting that the Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics, Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, inaugurated an experiment for self-driving vehicles at the Riyadh Business Interface, as part of the Ministry’s role to enable and adopt modern transportation systems.

Al-Romaih said that this initiative contributes to reducing the rate of transport accidents and deaths, improving movement between and within cities, and reducing the negative impact of sectors on the environment.
