A shocking incident shook the communication sites in Egypt, where the pioneers of social networking sites circulated a video revealing the assault of some people in Karbaj on nurses inside an Egyptian government hospital.
The assault caused a bleeding to a pregnant nurse, and then her fetus was aborted, injuring others.
And a video clip revealed the incident that took place in Quesna Central Hospital in the Menoufia Governorate in northern Egypt, where a quarrel occurred between the patient’s family and the nurses, and it appeared that some people attacked the nursing staff in Karbaj amid the screams of those present and great chaos.
According to the investigations, the events of the incident began when a person, accompanied by his brother and a number of women, arrived at the hospital emergency room as a result of a minor bleeding, at a time when all gynecologists were busy with other surgeries.
It turned out that when the nurse informed the doctor of the details of the case, he requested that X-rays and some analyzes be performed until the completion of the surgeries, but the person accompanying the case refused that and demanded the necessity and speedy examination of the case, then directed insults towards the hospital staff.
According to the nurses, the women accompanying the case began threatening the hospital’s nursing staff and promising to beat them, following which two people entered the women’s ward and beat all the nurses in the department.
And the Egyptian Ministry of Health announced the speed of the investigation into the incident, as Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health, requested that he be provided with the results of an urgent investigation.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the ministry, said that the minister directed that all legal measures be taken, and a police report issued in the name of the hospital to ensure the preservation of the rights of members of the nursing staff, and the right of the state regarding the damage caused to the hospital.
He added that immediately following the incident occurred, the minister instructed the undersecretary in Menoufia Governorate to go to the hospital, prepare a detailed report on the incident, its causes and circumstances, and the injuries suffered by members of the nursing staff, and list the hospital’s damages.
The General Nursing Syndicate, headed by Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, head of the Nursing Syndicate and a member of the Senate, denounced the attack, which caused the injury of 5 nurses and the miscarriage of another nurse, in addition to the injury of 3 female workers.
The Nursing Captain called on the concerned authorities to quickly investigate the incident in order to take urgent legal measures once morest the person responsible for the incident.
Kawthar Mahmoud affirmed that she will not give up the rights of its members who perform their role to the fullest without default, stressing the need to address cases of assault on nursing staff, as intimidating nursing staff will not be in the interest of developing the health system.
