Without electricity for almost a year because of Hydro

A lady who has started transforming her chalet into a permanent residence in Saint-Donat, in the Laurentians, has been without electricity since the start of the work last November.

Lucie Vallière hasn’t heard from Hydro-Québec for a while now, despite many poles thrown.

Ms. Vallière’s ordeal began when she asked Hydro-Québec to disconnect the 200-amp panel so that the work could be done safely. However, the Crown corporation never returned to connect the panel.

“No electricity is also no water. We are supplied by an artesian well, so no water, no electricity. We can’t live like that,” she explains.

The lady also fears that she will no longer be able to be insured since her home cannot be heated without electricity.

“There’s nothing new; no more, no less than before,” says Ms. Vallière about the simple act of plugging in the panel.

She also notices that all her neighbors have electricity.

Hydro-Québec continues to tell Ms. Vallière, who has run out of solutions, that her request is not a priority.
