A Withings announced its newest smart scale aimed at professionals, the Body Pro 2. Supporting mobile connectivity, the product has a modular design approach to managing chronic conditions and places a special focus on monitoring complications such as diabetes.
According to the company, the scale allows care teams to capture advanced patient health metrics (such as weight and body composition), as well as optional health modules capable of tracking advanced and clinically variable biomarkers.
These very specific biomarkers can generally only be monitored in professional settings. Measuring skin electrochemical conductance, for example, is very useful in early detection of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which helps reduce the risk of developing diabetic foot ulcers.
