Wizz Air is now an official partner of the Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB) and will take athletes to the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.

The discount airline with Hungarian roots was awarded the tender for transport services in connection with the Olympic Games. The MOB negotiated with several airlines, among which Wizz Air was able to offer the best and most comfortable offer, explained MOB President Zsolt Gyulay. It’s not just regarding the flight schedule, but also regarding the comfort package for the athletes, which includes short waiting times and an easy transfer to the Olympic Village.

Everything for the comfort of the athletes

József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, reiterated his company’s support for Hungarian athletes and the Olympic spirit. “We want to be an official supplier to the Olympic Games and do our part to ensure that the athletes have optimal conditions for their competitions.” Ádám Schmidt, State Secretary for Sport, also welcomed the cooperation. Athletes can focus on their performance as this agreement ensures their comfort.

“Golden Bird” for the journey home

Gyulay pointed out that the European venue also attracts many Hungarian fans to the games and that the new agreement will make their travel much easier. Váradi announced a special flight for the end of the Olympic Games. The machine, popularly known as the “Golden Bird,” should – as everyone involved hopes – return home with as many medals as possible, including some gold.
