Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, chaired the meeting of the Board of Governors today; In the presence of Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development, Major General Abdel Hamid Al-Hagan, Governor of Qalyubia, and Major General Khaled Abdel-Al, Governor of Cairo, and with the participation of the rest of the governors via video conference technology.
The Prime Minister started the meeting, by pointing out that in light of the unprecedented circumstances that various countries of the whole world are going through, and Egypt among them, there are some files and topics that are followed up periodically, and on top of that is what is related to the availability of various goods and products, in appropriate quantities and prices.
The Prime Minister stated that in the framework of the continuous follow-up of the various markets, and what is being monitored of citizens’ complaints received through the various media, or through the unified government complaints system, you may notice that there is an exaggeration by some merchants in the pricing of commodities, and even a discrepancy in the prices of one commodity between One place, and another, which necessitated the need to carry out daily follow-up through the various concerned authorities, adding: We announced that within two weeks, various shops must set prices on various commodities, and that strategic commodities that affect the lives of citizens have a price range, in a way that ensures that they do not Exaggeration on the part of some merchants in pricing them, saying: “The price range for these strategic commodities will be agreed upon with the chambers of commerce and manufacturers.”
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was tasked with dealing with the utmost decisiveness with any attempt to saturate the markets or hide goods, addressing the governors: “You have complete mechanisms, according to the laws, and you must confront any attempt by any merchant decisively, in coordination with the regulatory authorities, and deal immediately with Any attempt to hide, store, or monopolize commodities,” stressing that commodities that are seized from exploiting traders will be offered to citizens at fair prices that have been agreed upon, adding: Do not allow anyone to trade, thirst for markets, and profit at the expense of citizens.
During the meeting, Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi referred to the existing cooperation with all governorates, with regard to efforts to control markets and provide various commodities to citizens, pointing to the meeting that was held recently with directors of directorates at the level of the Republic, in order to coordinate with regard to giving a two-week period to all stores with the aim of announcing Prices on different commodities, with an emphasis on the need for this decision to be widely known within two weeks before the start of applying punitive measures once morest violators.
The minister explained that there will be a higher committee from the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Manufacturers, to study the different equations, in order to reach the price range of strategic commodities, stressing that all regulatory authorities will follow up and monitor the implementation of this step.
Al-Moselhi added that the beginning of next week will witness the start of coordination with manufacturers, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and various parties, with the aim of preparing for the “Welcome Ramadan” exhibitions, in order to provide goods to citizens at reasonable prices before the holy month, and in this regard, the Prime Minister directed all governors to work to provide and make available The various places needed to set up sheds and outlets for selling goods and products, provided that this is done “for free.” This comes within the framework of the state’s efforts to expand the establishment of more of these outlets, in a way that contributes to the arrival of goods to citizens at reasonable prices through various initiatives.
