With a day of comprehensive care ‘Let’s save Cartagena Together’ in Membrillal, the Traditional Ancestral Medicine (MAT) strategy was launched, led by the Health program of the Pedro Romero Social Emergency Plan (PES-PR).
From the program, the PES seeks to protect the health rights of indigenous peoples, guaranteeing their cultural integrity, and the Zenú de Membrillal Indigenous Council (Caizem) sought medical care alternatives inspired by the dialogue of knowledge, which They will allow the incorporation of ancestral and traditional medicine, typical of ethnic groups, for the health benefit of communities in conditions of extreme poverty.

Attention in Traditional Ancestral Medicine
For the first time, the Cabildo Zenú de Membrillal offered the service of Ancestral and Traditional Medicine, thanks to the knowledgeable doctors of this ethnic group.
Through its knowledgeable doctors, this community attends an average of 250 patients monthly, of which 70% are visitors who find in MAT care an alternative to enjoy good health without the need to invest high sums of money.

“The right to health is a fundamental right and the PES, responding to the call of one of the lines of attention of the Health program, consolidates the implementation of the practices of Ancestral and Traditional Medicine, giving recognition to the work that they have done for years. these ethnic communities in terms of health”, said Cielo Blanco Flórez, director of the PES-PR.
The Pedro Romero Social Emergency Plan recognizes the alternatives and practices of natural medicine that have been felt in our society for years, guaranteeing that they continue over time.
