A little more than six months had to pass for Ñublense to once once more celebrate a victory at home in the Official Primera A Tournament.
Last night they ended a negative streak that seemed to be prolonged, following beating the bottom of the competition, Deportes Copiapó, 1-0, with a solitary goal from the Argentine midfielder, Gabriel Graciani at 48′ of the second half.
The last time that Rojo had won at the Nelson Oyarzún stadium was on September 3, 2023.
After the home defeat once morest Audax Italiano, the alarms went off, so Mario Salas modified the system and now included Graciani from the start.
And it worked. Although the team, from the expected intensity, dynamics and mobility, has not yet reached its best version, this time, it was able to overcome the expulsion of the scorer Patricio Rubio, who in the 40th minute went to the showers following a double yellow.
The fragile Deportes Copiapó, in an opaque match as an expression of spectacle, did not know how to take advantage of the numerical superiority and saw how the “red devils” wove a remarkable play on the right to reach 1-0 at the feet of Graciani.
The subsequent expulsion of the recently admitted Maximiliano Quinteros only leveled the proceedings, following Ñublense, appealing to a spirit of applaudable defensive sacrifice, managed to control the reaction of the “León” of Atacama.
With this hard-fought victory, Rojo climbed to fifth place with 7 points, while Copiapó remains at the bottom without points.
Next Saturday, at noon, Ñublense will visit Everton in Viña del Mar.
