Bijou architectural : Rabat enriches its tourism portfolio with the opening of a new luxury hotel. Combining Moroccan know-how, neo-Moorish style and refined design, the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat At Kasr Al Bahr is a true architectural gem. Decorated with zellige and decorations made by Moroccan artisans, this hotel pays homage to this place which once served as the summer residence of Sultan Moulay Slimane and which then housed the emblematic Marie Feuillet hospital. The details.
The Four Seasons Rabat At Kasr El Bahr has succeeded in the difficult task of resurrecting the history of the place while offering Morocco and travel lovers a new high-end tourist destination. Almost a few kilometers from Oudayas, this palace has several assets. In addition to keeping the historical imprint of this Palace, the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat At Kasr Al Bahr overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. It is served by the splendid coastal road from Rabat which provides visitors with smooth and direct access by car or on foot to all the main arteries of the capital and its monuments. Built on 5 ha, it is 30 minutes by car from Rabat-Salé airport and 1 hour and 30 minutes from Casablanca Mohammed V international airport. “The opening of a third Four Seasons in Morocco completes our collection which is already very rich with a hotel in Marrakech and another in Casablanca,” says Grégory Viaud, CEO of the establishment, during a visit reserved for the press on November 15, 2024. This hotel has 200 rooms (including 40 suites) with a private balcony or terrace, a collection of seven dining venues (under the direction of the Senior Executive Chef Sebastiano Spriveri) and a Spa. The Signature suites stand out, such as the Turquoise suite and the presidential suite – Suite Moulay Slimane, with its panoramic view of the ocean, and the Riad du Sultan, rebuilt on the model of the former royal residence, offering spaces of intimate indoor and outdoor living, an infinity pool and a whirlpool, all with a breathtaking view of the sea. In terms of price, the rooms start at 5,000 and 6,000 DH, according to the seasons. As for suites, the price for nights starts at 8,000 DH.
A city within a city
In addition to the responsibility of presenting a Four Seasons with the qualities of luxury services and products, the initiators of this project assume another responsibility which is that of safeguarding the richness and history of this architectural work. They were even inspired by the districts of the city of Rabat to name the different buildings of this palace. “For this hotel in particular we have even more responsibility in relation to the city of Rabat, the R’batis and Morocco (…) because it was originally the residence of Sultan Moulay Slimane and afterwards, it became a military hospital. We have this responsibility to make something grandiose out of it,” he argues. At the same time, the capital is home to historic sites and has growing tourist potential. In this regard, the hotel’s CEO underlines: “Rabat is a city that deserves to be discovered. The spotlight has often been on Marrakech, Fez and Casablanca, and there is a lack of knowledge about the capital of Morocco. Our duty as an international company is to really make foreigners want to come here and discover the Medina (…), go see the Oudayas qasbah and all its historical sites in Morocco recognized as UNESCO world heritage and which remain unknown. For the creation of the Four Seasons Rabat At Kasr Al Bahr, the authors of this project called on local craftsmen. But, it doesn’t stop there. Indeed, the establishment wants to associate Moroccan culture and art with the development of this hotel. “There is also a building, entirely dedicated to this, and which is called Warcha (…) where we will bring artists, decorators, and fashion shows to introduce Morocco to our clients,” notes Mr. Viaud.
A MICE destination
The hotel aims to become an essential MICE destination. In this sense, Gregory Viaud explains: “We also have the ambition to position the hotel as a MICE destination. Besides, the month of December looks promising and 2025 will be a good year.” And added: “For the conference room, we already have reservations for the coming weeks.” It must be said that the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat At Kasr Al Bahr houses a conference center offering 2,700 square meters of indoor and outdoor spaces. Its events center includes a royal ballroom spread over an area of 1,021 square meters. It can accommodate up to 1,000 people. It is completed by a large outdoor terrace. Additionally, the center offers a junior ballroom for more intimate events.
Supporting the momentum of the capital
Open since October 9, 2024, this 3rd Four Seasons establishment in Morocco expands the hotel offering in Rabat. “We all know that Rabat, city of lights, is in full development. We have all noticed the development that the city has experienced over the last five and ten years and therefore we are on the right path to support this development while keeping in mind the three main axes that we want to develop, namely the city break, the cultural destination, city of lights and we want to add to that a gastronomic destination through the gastronomic offer that we offer,” indicates Yasser Maazouz, Marketing Director of the hotel. The establishment is also banking on the arrival of more and more tourists in Rabat. “We want to move away from this classic tourism in the city of Rabat (…) and develop a leisure destination in its own right,” argues Mr. Maazouz.

**Grégory Viaud:** Thank you for having me. This hotel is truly a remarkable blend of rich Moroccan heritage and modern luxury. Located in a historic site that was once the summer residence of Sultan Moulay Slimane, we’ve worked hard to honor the past while providing an exceptional high-end tourist experience. The neo-Moorish architecture and intricate designs, including beautiful zellige crafted by local artisans, reflect the essence of Rabat.

We want our guests to engage with the local culture, architecture, and craft.
**Interviewer:** It seems you have a vision for integrating Moroccan art and culture in this hotel. Can you elaborate on that?
**Grégory Viaud:** Certainly. We’re establishing a dedicated space called Warcha, which will host artists, fashion shows, and cultural events.
