“Balila Belblouki.. and Algeria with the Flyer Rakbuki..and on the Emdgasn Azmouki Festival”, the film festival in Algeria was launched with the flavor of “Bab Al Hara”.
This is how the Syrian artist Nizar Abu Hajar, famous for the role of “Abu Ghaleb” in the famous series “Bab Al-Hara”, made the event at the “Imdgasen” Film Festival in Algeria, and increased momentum with the presence of the hero of the same series, the artist Abbas Al-Nouri, who was also famous for the role of “Abu Essam”.
In this way, the administration of the Algerian Film Festival wanted to create an Arab media impetus for its second international festival, which was launched on Tuesday in the Batna governorate in eastern Algeria.
24 countries
From the capital of the Algerian Liberation Revolution, the International Film Festival “Imdgasen” was launched with the participation of 24 countries represented by 29 short fiction films, including a film by the son of the Syrian artist Abbas Al-Nouri.
The festival management revealed its approval of 29 films to be shown in the competition, out of 2,283 films discussed, to obtain the award for the best short film, in addition to other awards that include best director, script, music, male role and female role.
Among the films competing in the “Imdgassen” Film Festival in Algeria, there is “Sebaschak Merikan” by Amal Bledi, “I will tell God everything” by Mohamed bin Abdullah from Algeria, “A life date” by Omar Al-Bahidi from Egypt, and “Oud Thaqab”. by Mahmoud Ahmed from Palestine, “The Flag” by Pinar Göktas from Turkey and “Once Upon a Time, Today One” from Canada.
In addition to “The Winner” by Russian Yuri Sysoev, “Shark” by Australian Nash Edgerton, and “Psycho” by Mustafa Daftalp from Iran.
Arabic presence
In contrast to its first edition, the second edition of the “Imdgasen” Short Film Festival witnessed a distinguished presence of artists from several Arab countries, most notably from Algeria: Bayouna, Malika Belbay, Bouchra Okbi and director Jaafar Kassem from Algeria.
As well as the artist Ahmed Badir from Egypt, the Syrian artists Abbas Al-Nouri and his wife, the author and writer Anoud Khaled, Nizar Abu Hajar, and the artist Khaled Bouzid from Tunisia.
The festival management decided to organize 4 cinematic workshops for young people and students interested in cinematographic works, supervised by directors and actors from Algeria and Tunisia, especially in directing, acting, motion cinema and image.
Long movies
The “Imdgasen” Film Festival in Algeria was not limited to short fiction films, as feature films were programmed out of competition from Algeria, including “The End of Time” by Yasmine Chouikh, and “Life Beyond” by Anis Jaad.
As well as organizing tourist tours in some of the archaeological and tourist areas that the Algerian province of Batna is famous for, to introduce its tourism capabilities, most notably the ancient city of Timgad, which is the oldest and largest Roman city in Africa, as well as “Gofi Balconies,” which dates back hundreds of years.
