Intelbras enters the energy storage market with the EBL 4800 battery aiming for energy efficiency and sustainability

Intelbras (INTB3), a Brazilian company with 47 years of history, expands its portfolio of technological solutions with a new 48V and 100Ah lithium battery called EBL 4800, intended for telecommunications, commercial, industrial and solar energy applications. The launch is the company’s first step towards entering the segment, seeking to offer sustainable energy efficiency solutions, as lithium is considered a cleaner energy source than lead.

The energy storage market is still new in Brazil. Taking into account the possibilities of this type of product, the country is under the influence of some global trends that indicate the use of batteries like the one launched by Intelbras.

Among them are the growing demand for electrical energy, the need to decarbonize economic activities, more generation of renewable energy, distribution of energy resources and sophistication of electrical networks.

“Upon observing this promising market movement, Intelbras assessed that the strategy of expanding its portfolio with lithium batteries is very important to keep the company aligned with current and future demands with regard to energy efficiency. We want to continue expanding our business by inserting the company into markets that have been growing in a sustainable way, contributing to the development of society as a whole”, says Maria Helena Garcia, executive manager of the energy unit at Intelbras.

More sustainable solution

The EBL 4800 product is capable of storing energy in remote locations and environments where the system cannot lose connection to the grid. Furthermore, its BMS board (Battery Management System) self-manages the battery, balances the cells and protects once morest overloads and extreme temperatures, ensuring the safety and good functioning of the lithium cells.

“This is a new market that we want to explore and our new product is a gateway to this. As we begin our operations in the energy storage market, we are embracing technological innovation, as the product is fully aligned with energy efficiency, integration with renewable energy, durability and sustainability”, adds the executive.

Lithium batteries have been a more sustainable alternative compared to older technologies, such as models that use nickel. Firstly, the long lifespan of Intelbras lithium batteries reduces the constant need for replacement, thus reducing waste production.

Furthermore, the ability to recycle key components of lithium batteries significantly contributes to reducing environmental impact. This extended life cycle and the ability to reuse valuable materials not only conserves resources, but also minimizes the carbon emission associated with battery production and disposal, thus highlighting their crucial role in the transition to a more sustainable energy matrix.

To exemplify advances in the battery recycling process, a research team from the Qinghai Institute, which operates in China, developed a new technique that allows more than 90% of the lithium to be recovered from lithium-ion batteries, which are widely used in batteries. power.

Through the use of membrane separation and acid leaching technology, the team achieved a purity of 99.69% in the recovered lithium carbonate, which represents high commercial value. Furthermore, the lithium recovery rate throughout the process reached 92.24%, an expressive percentage that offers even more optimism.

Main features and benefits of the EBL 4800 battery

Among the main features of the product, its voltage of 48V can be highlighted, in addition to its capacity of 100Ah, useful life of more than 8 years, high energy density and attractive cost-benefit to make projects even safer and more efficient. Furthermore, it is resistant to high temperature variations and up to 10 batteries can be connected in parallel, which guarantees the application of this product in the most diverse scenarios.

Intelbras launched the new lithium battery with the aim of solving storage for times when the power grid goes down, in addition to providing cost optimization, performing energy backup and creating isolated systems (locations that do not have access to the power grid). ). In this way, the lithium battery has several benefits.

Among them are:

• Self-management that maintains the safety and good functioning of lithium cells;
• High energy density to store a significant amount of energy in compact spaces;
• Light indicator that shows the battery charge status.
The Intelbras solution consists of one or more batteries connected in parallel. Depending on the application scenario, they can be connected to an inverter, source, UPS or devices that work with a voltage of 48V, in order to store energy.

Cost-benefit of the EBL 4800 for business

The long useful life of the Intelbras lithium battery makes it an investment that brings savings and cost-benefit to companies, by providing constant energy and eliminating the need for recurring maintenance. This characteristic allows decision makers and managers to focus on other important business activities.

“With its intelligent management, durability and expert technical support, the lithium battery is the ideal choice for projects that require constant power, wherever they are located. Investing in this launch, without a doubt, is a right action for companies that seek energy efficiency, savings and collaborate with the preservation of our planet through the use of cleaner energy”, concludes Rubens Lorenço Neto, manager of the UPS segment at Intelbras.
