The creation of a single Center for Municipal Fees and TAP was announced by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Vassilis Spanakis, at the meeting of the Panhellenic Federation of Property Owners, held on Sunday in Patras.
Mr. Spanakis, referring to the new regulation of debts to the local authorities and their legal entities that is in force, emphasized that this is an important intervention decided by the Ministry of the Interior, giving the possibility to thousands of citizens to arrange their financial outstandings to the Municipalities in 60 installments .
At the same time, he said that the Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the Local Government and the relevant Ministries, is moving towards a single Center for Municipal Taxes and TAP so that if any owner has a property not only in his place of residence, but in any part of Greece , to be able to know in one place what his debts are and to have an aggregated picture as there is with the tax obligations in the AADE.
“With the creation of this Center, which we will advance in the coming months and will be implemented in the coming years, a debtor will be able, whether his debt to the Municipalities of the Country is from a Municipal Police call or is from the Municipal Fees or is from account of a DEWA or for any other reason, his debt to have a clear picture in real time”.
At the same time, Mr. Spanakis announced that the establishment of a Unified Management System for Real Estate Fees, Municipal Fees and Municipal Lighting is progressing. With this system, there will be an automatic stop of charging municipal cleaning and lighting fees to properties that remain vacant and not electrified, because the majority of citizens, as Mr. Spanakis, does not know that in order to get rid of municipal fees and taxes in a non-electrified property, it is not enough to cut off the electricity supply. They are unaware that the exemption is valid only from the date of submission of the relevant declaration to the municipality, with the result that after many years they are surprised to discover that they have been charged with exorbitant debts.
