The Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Government of National Unity said that it objected to the file of developing the Dahra field, given that the decision of the National Oil Corporation came to assign directly to the “Essnad” company following negotiations between it and the Al-Waha Company.
The ministry indicated that, through the correspondence between the National Oil Corporation and Al-Waha Company, it was not mentioned that the “Esnad” company is a Libyan company, and that there is an Emirati company with the same name, especially since the negotiations took place in the UAE.
The ministry stated that all local and international companies should have been summoned, and the matter should not be limited to one company alone, considering that direct assignment distances the sector from the principle of transparency and disclosure.
The ministry added that it is keen to ensure that all work is in accordance with correct procedures, and on the basis and standards of transparency, governance and good management.
The ministry added that it contacted the National Oil Corporation and asked it to start exploration, development and maintenance of the fields, but it has not received a response so far.
The ministry stated that it is necessary to focus on purely artistic work, follow transparency, and avoid enthusiastic rhetoric and questioning anyone who has a dissenting opinion and is supported by the law, regulations, and legislation in force, according to her statement.
The National Corporation had denied contracting with an Emirati company to develop the Al-Dhahra field, explaining that it had contracted with the local “Esnad” company.
