With pain and complaint, this is how they remembered Víctor Garro, the Neuquén police officer murdered in Añelo

Every October 5, the 10th police station in Añelo holds an event in honor of the post-mortem deputy commissioner Victor Garro,murdered 9 years ago in the plateau area, in the main town of Vaca Muerta. This Friday, Authorities, neighbors and relatives of the fallen man gathered at the cenotaph to pay tribute.

During the event, the Garro family was present, including the mother and daughter who also serves in the provincial force.expressions of respect and memory were read and the actions of the police leadership and the Justice of Neuquén were also recriminated.

“With respect, I ask the authorities why they had not told us that Ruiz (one of the murderers) was free,” expressed Ana Garro, sister of the fallen man.

He also spoke regarding the questioned actions of Judge Raquel Gass who set free Héctor Hernán Ruiz Herrera. The lifer had escaped to Chile and was recently recaptured and repatriated to Neuquén.

Two absences were noted at the ceremony, that of the Secretary of Security of the province, Marianina Domínguez, and that of the Chief of the Neuquén Police, Julio Peralta. Among those present were Chief Commissioner Claudio Vinet, former colleagues of Garro and the acting and elected mayors of Añelo, Milton Morales and Fernando Banderet respectively. Also the councilor of Neuquén capital, Marcelo Bermudez, traveled to be present.

During the event, the event perpetrated on October 5, 2014 was remembered and Chaplain Pablo Mardoni performed a religious ceremony to give way to words to the Garro family. Subsequently, the municipal authorities informed those present that the Añelo Deliberative Council approved the naming of a street with the name “Victor Garro.”
