This is the der of the ders of judge Hennart in “Face au magistrate”. And his replacements are already in this new burst of episodes.
Next year, the program will celebrate its tenth anniversary. With its longevity does not dry up the interest of viewers. On the contrary ! RTL-TVI can pride itself on having added a younger audience to it, which consumes “Face au magistrate” in sequences on social networks. Another proof of this is that the site questions-justice.be recently requested a partnership with the show. “A great recognition for the program”, comments Julie Denayer. “We have always had a didactic aim. In concrete terms, questions-justice asked us for permission to use sequences of Facing the judge in schools, in the context of workshops intended to explain how justice works. »
The editions follow one another, and the incredible stories too. Disputes between tenant and landlord, traffic offences, thefts, phony excuses, etc., we have the impression of having seen them before, and yet, as Julie Denayer summarizes, “they surprise us, move us or annoy” still as much. Sometimes, some cases are so unbelievable, the speakers have such a sense of repartee (sometimes reluctantly) that it seems like fiction. Well, no, everything could not be more true and those who make the zigotos in front of the camera, the journalist tends not to favor their appearance on TV.
strong personalities
From the hearings, it retains those that can help to learn more about justice. “I would say this season we’ve been following more neighborhood disputes because it turned out that way. I remain, despite the years, still as touched by what I see and hear. For example, during the filming of this season, I witnessed a scene that challenged me. A man was appearing before Judge Hennart for strangling his girlfriend during an argument. Well, this one came to his defense. It’s sad to see how difficult it is still for some battered women to get out of the cycle of violence,” she told us.
The teams also filmed the last hearings of Luc Hennart, who has since retired (but has not left the media landscape). “I started this project with him, of course it leaves room for others, but inevitably, with Luc Hennart, a chapter of Face au magistrat closes. It is with a little nostalgia that we said goodbye. »
At the presidency of the accelerated procedures of the Brussels Criminal Court, two judges replaced him. One is a familiar face to viewers. Sophie Morel was part of the program when she was a public prosecutor. “She’s a woman with a hell of a fist who has a sense of punchlines and humor. Judge Olivier Legrand is in a different style. He is very composed, very observant but he hits the bull’s eye”, describes Julie Denayer.
“Facing the judge”, Sunday February 26, 7:50 p.m., RTL-TVI.
