Since the iPhones 14 were launched, news related to the lower-than-expected demand for simpler models is not uncommon. The cheapest is quite similar to the iPhone 13, while the 14 Plus has a relatively small price difference compared to the 14 Pro. Apple’s revenue even dropped in the last quarter, although the entire line of new smartphones has eased the decline.
What was not expected was that the top-of-the-line models would also suffer from this: according to Bloombergby China, of iPhone 14 Pro is being sold with discounts of up to ¥800 (nearly R$600) at outlets such as JD.com and state-owned operator China Mobile. The Chinese Apple Store continues to sell the device at the same price as the launch.
One analyst claims that discounts have risen from an average of 3-4% to 7-9% in just one month, and that the new devices are 28% cheaper than the iPhone 13 line in the same period last year.
Despite sales of iPhones 14 having risen in the last quarter, the expectation is that they will decrease in the next period; supply of screens for the Plus model would also have stopped due to lack of demand.
We can only wait to see if Apple will make some official price cut or other type of action to stimulate the purchase of the devices, which, it is worth remembering, should still remain in the company’s product line for some time.
