The upgrade in Lost Ark is damn expensive. It’s no secret so far. However, a reddit user shows a trick that you can use to make your life easier. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What does the trick reveal? Normally, to reach the Gearscore 1,415, you have to completely bring your current equipment to +15. That costs nerves, a lot of crystals and above all a lot of gold. So that you at least waste less gold, a reddit user has calculated how it can be done more easily (via reddit).
It’s also important to note that the post takes an endgame character’s upgrade rates. This means the exact numbers will only match if you already have a level 1460 character and have researched the honing buff in the Stronghold.
But the real trick is as simple as it is simple: Don’t make all of your gear up to +15. This is expensive and inefficient. Instead, you upgrade some parts to +17 in order to be able to leave expensive parts, such as your weapon, at +11. This saves you several thousand gold on average.
And it helps you get to Vykas, the latest Legion Raid in Lost Ark:
How does this work in detail? It depends on whether you play Support or DPS, because then you have different priorities, which also affects your gear. As a DPS player you prefer the pieces of equipment that give you a bonus to Attack Power, while as a support you prefer to have more life points.
For DPS players this means:
- Gloves and Pauldrons +17 because you get more Attack Power here
- Helm +13
- Pants and top +12
- Weapon +11, since it is the most expensive and you hardly lose any damage due to the additional Attack Power on gloves and shoulders
For supports it looks like this:
- Top and pants +17, as they give you the most bonus to vitality and you can use it to distribute larger shields
- Helm +13
- Gloves and shoulder pieces +12
- Weapon +11
This makes the support build slightly more expensive than the DPS build, as the top and pants cost more gold in the upgrade than gloves and pauldrons. Nevertheless, this way is also much cheaper than pushing all the equipment to +15. With both variants, you end up with Gearscore 1,415.
By the way, if your support build focuses on damage buffs, you can also go the DPS route. Damage buffs scale with Attack Power, while shields and heals scale with Vitality.
You can see exactly how much gold you save in the thread itself:
Also works if your character is not yet 1,460
Should I choose the method even if I don’t have the honey buff yet? Yes, definitely. Although the reddit thread creator refers to the rates you have with the big buff to 1,460, the method basically works without any problems.
The buff you can research at 1460 improves your upgrade chances by 10% while reducing material consumption by the same amount. This means you’re still saving a ton of money without this buff, the calculated numbers just don’t match your experience.
If you still want to find out We have prepared a separate article on how you can best farm gold to afford it.
Even if you’re currently playing your first character and don’t have that much gold yet, you can still use this little trick to save up some gold. You need that anyway, because up to 1,460 it is a long and, above all, expensive way.
What do you think of the method? Have you used them yourself, or do you prefer everything to be evenly +15? Write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO.
