PARIS (AP) — A brilliant individual display from striker Reda Khadra helped Reims end a three-game losing streak on the road with a 3-1 French league victory over third-place Monaco on Saturday.

It was Khadra’s first league goal since the German Under-21 international joined from Brighton this summer.

Khadra received the ball on the right wing and dealt with Guillermo Maripan by sending the ball forward with a backheel. Once in the box, Khadra dribbled past Soungoutou Magassa and resisted another Maripan defensive attempt before firing a shot at the goal.

Reims placed fifth in the standings, four points behind Monaco. Nice, which is second, later faces Rennes.

Leader Paris Saint-Germain returns to league action following the winter break, traveling to face second-place Lens on Sunday.

Monaco had possession of the ball for most of the first half, but lacked precision in the final half.

Reims opened the scoring when captain Teddy Teuma had a powerful shot from outside the area to conclude a counterattack in the 35th minute. Teuma reached five goals in the campaign.

Monaco tied it with a goal from Aleksandr Golovin shortly following halftime. But it didn’t take long for Reims to regain the lead and Azor Matusiwa sealed the match in added time.
