With a fresh head! Mooder makes MacBook Air with M3 reach MacBook Pro score with simple changes

Approximately a week ago, we saw information here that despite sharing the same platform, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon M3 have different performances, which can reach a reduction of 33% in the MacBook Air.

However, it didn’t take long for someone to appear willing to show that it is possible for the “cheaper” model to beat the more advanced model without major changes, which guaranteed an increase of almost 50% in some scenarios.

To achieve this, the Youtuber bet on using a DHCR cooling dock from SVALT which, as you can already imagine, was developed by the manufacturer precisely to fit the MacBook and keep it cooler while operating vertically (in other words, you end up using it as a cabinet with the help of a keyboard, mouse and external monitor.

In addition to the dock, the YouTuber also combined the cooling dock solution with the addition of thermal pads inside the device (something that, obviously, is more complex for a home user without technical support for this), which made the notebook perform even more so, as benchmark scores can be seen in 3DMark Wildlife Extreme.

What draws the most attention when we talk about the tests in question is that the tests carried out by mooder confirm that the MacBook Pro favors cooling solutions when compared to the MacBook Air, something that can be overcome with “simple” changes to the Apple notebook .

Oh, not least: although not so complex, the solutions mentioned are not so cheap. The dock alone, for example, costs US$279, that is, the equivalent of almost R$1,400 in direct conversion, without considering the addition of taxes and fees, something that is certainly below the difference in values between the two models.
